We've seen a lot of crazy ideas floated around in the hospitality industry over the last few decades, but this one we're definitely knot shore about........
In the late 80's, visionary Doug Tarca had the dream, audacity and the Pacific taste to create a "Floating Hotel," on the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. (Ok, I'm done with the corny boat puns now, I promise). The vision was massive, the implementation an unbelievable success and the actual opening/operation a total disaster.
So how did Tarca's "Floatel", that was managed by Four Seasons, end up in North Korea? Check out this story by Messy Nessy for how Tarca's masterpiece took the sea-nic route (sorry, couldn't help myself) all the way to North Korea. Click here for the full article.
